QUESTBOOK

March 24, 2004 - A Fair Question

GrooveQuest's most frequently asked question:

What type of music does your band play? A fair, simple, normal question, which in the case of GrooveQuest defies a simple answer. The band puts an emphasis on elemental aspects of the blues for example, the blues represents:

**The acceptance of the human condition. **The need, right, worth of individual self expression, i.e. respect.

A good portion of GrooveQuest's repertoire is obscure. Therefore, there is no expectancy to conform or to imitate musical techniques or styles, which allows an open opportunity for individual interpretation and self-expression in the music . . . that is to say that the music reflects the contribution of the individuals in the group!

This, then, creates a band-as-environment phenomena conducive to all-out, impassioned, individual and group artistic expression.

So with no further adieu--let's meet the group:

Steve O'Brien, your vocal servant, born and blessed with a natural rich singing voice and a musical ear, Steve is virtually infatuated with blues, R&B, soul, and gospel music; its founders, proponents, and overall culture. He is continually expanding his repertoire and stylistic technique. He is ever striving to communicate the spiritual message via the live band to audience format.

Jim TerMaat has played lead and rhythm guitar in numerous and varied musical settings. He has played blues to classic rock (before it was classic rock). A dedicated, conscience, spiritually guided, craftsman and great team player playing passionately with and into the groove at all times.

Lisa Groovestress O'Brien, bassist, possessing of a natural solid rhythm timekeeping sense and driving danceable grooves coupled with a naturally supportive team player approach and mixed with an extraordinary stage presence filling band stand and venue with a radiant karmic glow.

Shufflemonster brings a vintage attitude and spirit of feel-good music and good-natured fun as well as a rhythmic jambalaya mix of ghost strokes incorporating polymetric groove enhancements that simultaneously blend with the bass and interact spontaneously with the band while passionately driving the groove into a feverish pitch of exuberant glee.

Robert Eldridge is a world-class woodwind musician who has played and toured extensively with numerous national acts. His styles range from traditional jazz through the blues and everything inbetween.

** Exuberant
** Impassioned
