May 19, 2005 - Groovalistic Impressionism
(Shufflemonster): "Wow, it was great meeting Dave Johnson's dad, Hal, on our last gig. He is an 'old school' professional Jazz/Swing/Bebop drummer. What a cool guy!"
(Groovestress): "Shufflemonster, are you sure that you are satisfied playing 'Roots, Rock n' Roll' with GrooveQuest?---that you don't miss your Jazz playing days too much?"
(Shufflemonster): "I'm still operating from my Jazz sensibilities---I've transposed rhythm into motion/emotion/texture--and by controlling my dynamics, I just sort of percussively paint rhythmic textures as embellishment--that is--when I'm not functioning structurally or thinking subdivisions. I then phrase into, around, and about the exuberant spirit of the musical moment with a kind of textural impressionism, utilizing rhythmic permutations and polymeters."
(Groovestress): "???--Ah, You do?"
(Shufflemonster): "Your own generous, open-minded, team spirited, supportive, bass playing and aptitude for playing with polymeter enables that approach. Within that approach, I am playing all the Jazz that my free-spirit desires, plus I am enjoying the nostalgia and heart-felt inspiration of my 'first-person-participant' close encounter with 'Old-School' Roots, Rock, n' Roll music---My Roots! My Music!"
(Groovestress): "[With a somewhat befuddled, unassuming demeanor] ??? Uh-Uh--Thanks---"
(Shufflemonster): "Groovestress, you and GrooveQuest have provided Shufflemonster with an enriching and inspirational bass of operations--a venue for his creativity and musical soul. GrooveQuest is a catalyst for exuberant karmic abundance and impassioned groovalistic self expression from the whole band ensemble, which channels to the audience as our 'Performance Art Project'."

(Groovestress): "Shufflemonster, I think I understand what you are saying."
(Shufflemonster): "Well, thank you, Groovestress. Uh---But, if you'll permit me, you're supposed to say your part up above in the body of the piece."
(Groovestress): "I don't think that Thelonius Monk or the "Collective Jazz Sensibility" would object, and any way, the last two times you gave me more to say--thereby setting up an expectation. And, furthermore, I believe my part is contributive (if somewhat less 'technical/hyperbolic' than yours) and therefore I'd like to state summarily and straight out to the people that---"
